Siobhan O’Brien and Shelley Peters are the managers and head trainers at Horselife Farm, the 22-stall, 17 acre training facility sitting in the rolling hills of Bartonville, Texas. They have created a communal barn atmosphere training all level of current and future Eventers. Both Siobhan’s and Shelley’s families are active at the barn, where you might find their husbands, sons or daughters pitching in and mucking out.

Siobhan has competed in Eventing for over 25 years throughout the United States, and has owned and managed boarding and training facilities in Flower Mound since 2002. Siobhan has long been involved in the North Texas eventing community, serving two terms as United States Eventing Association (USEA) Area V Chairperson, and has competed in several AEC and FEI competitions, and was 2011 AREA V Preliminary Champion. She has ridden multiple horses from Beginner Novice through Intermediate and produced her horse, Hoodwink to Intermediate before selling him to a young rider for NAYC.

As a result of her foundation in Eventing, Siobhan trains dressage, show jumping, and cross-country disciplines. She is a USEA ICP certified trainer with over 12 years of experience training riders from beginner through preliminary skill levels, working with all ages of children and adults to introduce them to riding or to advance their competitive skills. Siobhan prides herself in helping people achieve goals at all levels and shares her passion by bringing horses into the lives of others.

Siobhan also has three children and a supportive husband, all of whom are involved on the Farm.

Shelley Peters began riding in the hunter ring at a very young age in the Northeast. She fell in love with Eventing after moving to Texas over 25 years ago. Shelley developed several horses through the preliminary level, and has competed at the long format Hagyards 3 day event in KY, and several American Eventing Championships. She has earned year-end awards for Area V and NTEA at the preliminary level, and so far has earned a bronze medal in dressage.

Shelley is a trained instructor including audited and attended multiple instructor certification workshops and clinics.  She is also an active volunteer and currently the assistance DC for Silver Stirrups Pony Club in North Central Texas. She feels fortunate to share her lifelong passion for horses on a daily basis with riders at all ages and stages of their own journey with horses. Shelley’s teaching philosophy is one of patience and compassion towards both horse and rider.
